How to Calculate Wi-Fi Data Rate?

The Wi-Fi OTA data rate formula:

(OTA: Over-The-Air)

Data Rate=NSS​×NSD×log2​(MR÷TSYM

SymbolMeaning
NSSNumber of spatial streams
NSDNumber of data subcarriers
log2(M)Bits per subcarrier per symbol (determined by modulation)
RCoding rate
TSYMSymbol duration (symbol time + guard interval)

The symbol duration is:

TSYM=TFFT+TGI

Where TFFT​ is the OFDM symbol (FFT) duration and TGI is the short guard interval.
